Build homes like cars. Let's solve the housing crisis.

Industrialized Modular Construction.

The methods that are revolutionizing the building sector. Bringing it to a 4.0 industrie.

Are you aware how outdated and obsolete traditional construction has become? It is striking how in the midst of the technological boom and the worldwide digital transformation we live in, the construction industry continues using the same technologies our ancestors knew. Unwilling to evolve beyond the brick, that 5000 years old invention, highly inefficient and costly due to its labor needs and overrun costs. Not unlike the blockbuster-netflix battle where the ones who dared to innovate and evolve rose victorious, we see today more and more pioneers that rethink our ways and help us improve.

But why is it so hard to evolve? The primary reason for this is the reluctance of those on top to innovate and advance. The main evidence for this is how few of them have a Research and Development area and the little to no investment in innovation. In comparison, the automobile industry dedicated amounts as high as 16 billion dollars to their R&D teams, not unlike the tech industry.   (https://www.statista.com/statistics/270233/percentage-of-global-rundd-spending-by-industry/)

The most advanced industries have already managed to adopt 4.0 technologies in their production, making use of interconnection solutions, automation and data analysis in real time. How far is the construction industry from this efficiency?

Leaders investures and venture capitalists have found in this key weakness of our industry an opportunity not only to achieve great business but also to innovate by proposing solutions that today's world demands.

Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Google, Facebook among others, have invested huge sums of money in the development of new construction technologies that can effectibly respond to the great demand for smarter, more affordable and environmentally sustainable homes.

Now more than ever, time has come for innovation to really benefit construction. By which means? By the usage of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). As Cast Consultancy’s CEO Mark Farmer points out in “Modernise or Die” ( https://www.ukbimalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Modernise-or-Die_Risks_and_Opportunities_Mark_Farmer.pdf ); there are three main issues with construction today, all linked to our ways and unwillingness to improve . We need a way to evolve from this, but how?. MMC are those sets of technologies designed to introduce tech and rationalization, resulting in a more efficient and cost effective product. This is relevant to both on-site and especially off-site construction. Achieving a higher standard of industrialization and quality, while reducing labor and costs. Take as an example the Wuhan’s hospital built in just 12 days. Or the 57 stories high building in Chan, which took just 19 days to be assembled.

Can we go further than MMC?

Why stop with just MMC? when other industries have already developed such efficient systems for industrialization. We are talking specifically of  World Class Manufacturing (WCM), a Japanese system based on 10 technical pillars and 10 administrational pillars. Overall, this system defines all activities which do not generate value and focus on reducing and even eliminating them when possible (activities in which there are no physical or chemical changes to the materials, such as looking for, walking to, etc). Aiming towards a stock free production.

Both MMC and WCM mix astonishingly well and bring huge advantages to our industry. Innovation and constant analysis overproduction allow for a continuous improvement system

Quality, maintenance, administration, costs, logistics, etc. are monitored in real time and in a the cloud based system, with the intention of increasing the performance of companies and standardizing it worldwide, with a strong and clear focus on cost reduction. With the implementation of this instrument, Hüga Technology reaches levels of efficiency never before seen in the construction industry. Bringing to the construction industry numbers such as a reduction in 90% of the waste materials, 46% reduction in labor per square foot, and a 99% construction off-site. This means, fewer costs in production, fewer delays in construction and a better overall work experience. Resulting in a more effective workforce, a better product, and of course, happier customers.

Adapting to new industry paradigms is no longer an option, otherwise the risk of being left out of the market skyrockets. How many companies can afford this luxury?
